Launching a Japan Carbon Offset Forum (J-COF) and its Kick-off Meeting

The Ministry of the Environment, Japan announced on 1 April, 2008 that
it established a Japan Carbon Offset Forum (J-COF). According to MOE's
Guidelines on Carbon Offsetting, it was recommended to establish a platform
to disseminate useful information, promote awareness, and provide public
consultations, in view of supporting the creation of a low carbon society.
Mr. Takejiro Sueyoshi kindly agreed to lead its activities as Chief Advisor,
with support by J-COF Secretariat, set up in the Overseas Environmental
Cooperation Center, Japan (OECC).
Activities of the Japan Carbon Offset Forum will be formally launched by
kick-off meetings to be held in Tokyo and Kyoto on forthcoming 15 and 16
April, 2008.
