Launching a Japan Carbon Offset Forum (J-COF) and its Kick-off Meeting

1 April, 2008

The Ministry of the Environment, Japan announced on 1 April, 2008 that it established a Japan Carbon Offset Forum (J-COF). According to MOE's Guidelines on Carbon Offsetting, it was recommended to establish a platform to disseminate useful information, promote awareness, and provide public consultations, in view of supporting the creation of a low carbon society.

Mr. Takejiro Sueyoshi kindly agreed to lead its activities as Chief Advisor, with support by J-COF Secretariat, set up in the Overseas Environmental Cooperation Center, Japan (OECC).

Activities of the Japan Carbon Offset Forum will be formally launched by kick-off meetings to be held in Tokyo and Kyoto on forthcoming 15 and 16 April, 2008.

For further details, please visit the following website of the Japan Carbon Offset Forum (the Japanese language only), and MOE's website (the Japanese language only), or contact info@j-cof.org.
